The program has been corrupted somehow. Something has changed one of the files that it needs to work.
1. Check to see that your PC has not been infected by a virus. They have have been known to cause these unpredictable problems.
2. Download the latest version available to you.
3. Uninstall the old program using the add/remove in the windows control panel.
4. Goto where you installed the program, e.g. c:\program files\desktopauthor or c:\program files\pageauthor folder and delete everything in this folder.
5. install the latest version and use automatic registration.
